The Batoka Gorge zipline is a high-speed cable ride out over the gorge below Victoria Falls, launched from the gorge lip — from K700 per person with POTUS transfers included.
Gorge zipline or bridge zipline?
Livingstone has two ziplines, and travellers mix them up daily. The gorge zipline on this page launches from the lip of the Batoka Gorge itself and sends you flying across the canyon with the Zambezi far below. The bridge zipline — the “slide” from $58 per person — runs alongside the historic Victoria Falls Bridge and belongs to the bridge activities, together with the $131 bridge swing.
The short version: the bridge slide gives you the Falls and the bridge in one frame, while the gorge zipline gives you pure canyon — longer sightlines, quieter setting, and priced in kwacha from K700. Plenty of guests do both in one trip, and our concierge will happily sequence them for you.
What the ride feels like
You are strapped into a full-body harness, clipped to the cable by the crew, and released from the gorge lip. The acceleration is instant and the view is everything: basalt walls, the green ribbon of the Zambezi, and raptors riding the thermals below your boots. This is the same gorge that hosts the famous Grade V white-water run described by Livingstone’s Adventure — you simply cross it at height instead of fighting it at water level.
- Price: from K700 per person, confirmed on your proforma invoice.
- Launch point: the Batoka Gorge lip, a short drive from Livingstone.
- Season: runs year-round, including the months when rafting is closed.
- Pairs well with: the gorge swing at K950 for a two-ride gorge session.
Respectful. Confidential. Reliable.
POTUS Rentals & Tours
How much does it cost?
The gorge zipline starts from K700 per person. Riders often add the Batoka Gorge swing from K950 in the same session, since both run from the gorge lip and share the drive out. All rates are confirmed at booking; subject to operator availability.
Your POTUS quotation covers the ride and return transfers from your Livingstone hotel. You settle the proforma invoice by bank transfer, mobile money or POS — no online card capture, and no hidden extras when you arrive at the gorge.
When is the best time to go?
The zipline runs in every season, which makes it a reliable adrenaline fix from about April to July when the flooded river closes the rafting. Mornings bring the calmest air and the crispest photographs; late afternoon adds warm light on the gorge walls. The ride itself is over in under a minute, so allow around half a morning or afternoon with transfers and the safety briefing.
Spectators are welcome at the launch site, so a mixed group can send its daredevils over the edge while everyone else enjoys the view of the gorge. There is no minimum group size — the ride runs from 1 guest.
How is it different from the bridge zipline?
Livingstone has two very different ziplines, and it helps to know which is which. The gorge zipline, from K700 per person, launches from the lip of the Batoka Gorge and sends you soaring high above the Zambezi far below — a long, fast flight across the canyon with the river a ribbon beneath your feet. The bridge zipline runs from the Victoria Falls Bridge itself, with the falls spray as the backdrop. Many adrenaline-seekers do both; they are genuinely different rides.
The gorge zip is run under strict safety standards with full harness systems and a thorough briefing, and it suits first-timers as readily as veterans — the hardest part is stepping off the edge. It is often paired with the gorge swing at the same site for a complete morning of canyon adrenaline, and POTUS books the combination, arranges the transfer and times it so the afternoon stays free.
The activity runs year-round, and the gorge is spectacular in every season — full and thundering in flood, sculpted and dramatic in low water. Tell us your dates and party size and we secure your places; groups often book a mix of the zip, the swing and the bridge activities, and we are happy to quote a combined rate.
Weight and health checks are carried out before every ride, and closed shoes are recommended, but no prior experience is needed — the operators talk first-timers through every step. Photographs and video of your flight across the canyon are available afterwards. POTUS confirms your slot, arranges the transfer to the gorge site and can bundle the zip with the swing and the bridge activities so your whole adrenaline morning arrives on a single, well-timed quotation with the afternoon left free for the falls or a cruise.
